I do see a small bit of green cane so you may be able to save it. I need to know what conditions it's growing in though to give any suggestions. Is it inside or out? How often do you water and fertilize?

All the green is gone now. I'm hopeful it could still come back from the roots. It's been outside but that seemed to have killed it. Our temps have been over 100 degrees for the past month or so. I've brought it inside and put it under high powered grow lights used for my citrus. Thanks for your help.

Sorry to say but if everything has turned brown and died there probably isn't much hope it will come back. Try to dig carefully into the pot. If you don't see any thin white feeder roots at all then I'm afraid it's a goner. I know it's been awful hot and dry there in TX this summer. If you replace it I'd put it outside (roses hate to be inside, not just the light, the humidity is wrong too) but not in full sun. Dappled shade or early morning sun only would be best. And water, Water, WATER! And don't be afraid to spray the leaves. It will cool it off and the leaves do take in water too.

I examined the roots carefully and they are all brown. I have 4 others that seem fine. I repotted one because it had a piece of purslane growing in it. I was able to see what the healthy roots looked like then. I put the brown rose back in a pot just in case it might revive but I don't think that's going to happen. Thanks for your help and support.

It was red and the blooms were fragrant. I have no idea what kind it was - just one picked up at Walmart or the grocery store. I'd probably had it 15 years.

Could anyone here recommend another red miniature with fragrant blooms? I may replace it this fall. Thanks.

There are lots of beautiful red mini roses. A good place to look at them is Helpmefind dot com/roses. You can do a search there and and they have a tab that will tell you where you can purchase them. It's a great resource.

Although this is not a red but it is quite possibly the most fragrant mini rose.
Dont sell your self short, look around at the two web sites I think you will find some fantastic plants in many colors, and fragrances. good luck
