Pale pink single rose needs identity

Is this rose a form of Dainty Bess or has it another name? This plant is from a very old plant from my Grandfathers farm. The plant was bought to my parents property 50 years ago and then I've moved it several times to where I live now. Thus is was originally planted from the early 20's to the late 50's but there is no one left who might know. The original plant was crushed by a tree in a storm and this is the cutting I managed to save. The rose is not a strong growing plant. The leaves are dark glossy with a red boarder when young. The buds are a hot pink and pale as they open. It is a flowers continuously. The plant grows to around 4' max. I can't find it in any book, however always believed it to be called Isobella. We live in a cool/temperate climate, inland 30 miles, 900 feet above sea level in the Dandenong Ranges, temperatures range from around 28F winter to our record max 116F last year when the fires devestated our state, the average would be 14-104 degrees F and great for rose growing in our great mountain soil.

Thankyou, I don't know enough about roses and their variations to know if being close is OK as my rose has no yellow in/near the centre as these Isobel's do, the petals are all pink. However the petals are the same shape but the stamens are red & yellow, not just yellow. Could this be a variation?

I wanted you to see the photos because it was a single with a name like the one you remembered.

To me, your photo does look like Dainty Bess, which I used to grow, but it may be another variety that is similar.

Check Poulsen's Pearl for the ID of your rose. In my Virginia garden, it has all of the characteristics that you describe. Poulsen's Pearl looks a lot like Dainty Bess, but it is a much smaller shrub (DB, for me, easily gets to be 6' tall), and blooms almost continuously.

The flowers look just like Dainty Bess but DB ain't dainty - she gets six feet tall here.

What I usually see is 'Climbing Dainty Bess'.

If the rose in question only gets to be 4' tall, I doubt it could be Dainty Bess. Mine is pushing 7' right now, after being pruned to 2' this spring. Climbing Dainty Bess, once established, will easily shoot up a 10 - 12' cane.

I don't know if the original poster has checked in here, but I think with a height of 4', with continuous flowering and clusters like the photo, he/she should look at Floribundas. The one that is the best match to my eye is Poulsen's Pearl ... though I expect there were probably other pink singles introduced that I am not familiar with. With an introduction date of 1949, this puts Poulsen's Pearl right at the end of the period in which the original rose was planted.

The other possibility is that the original rose started as 'Isobel', and it sported light pink at some time in its history. The height, description, and flower form are a match ... it's only the color that seems to be different.
