Your photo is out of focus, but from what I can tell, it's variegation...hard to tell whether it's genetic or a virus.

Which rose is this suppose to be? Or is it a plant you grew from seed yourself?

I'd definitely play with this one and see what it matures to!

LOL...I think you have issues with mites. Although I am sure there is a chance I may still have some of them hanging around, it is not mite damage (thankfully). Have you had a chance to see the new pictures under the new babies post? Did you get my last E-mail...I have had some problems with that lately?

Gerry, 'issues' doesn't begin to cover it. :-) Actually, before I had the first outbreak of SM, I noticed some leaves that looked like they had RMV or SOMETHING. They had a pattern to them, similar to your variegation photos. But it was on a mini and also on a HT, so it didn't make sense that it would be RMV (minis shouldn't have RMV). Eventually the mites broke out (seems like it was a week or two later), and now I tend to think anything that looks out of the ordinary regarding leaf growth is most likely a sign of things to come. And not usually good things.

It would be *really* cool, however, if your variegation is really genetic in origin and not a sign of disease or trauma to that plant.

I'm thinking it might be variegation, but it needs to be watched to be sure.

1. I think that in a small seedling a virus would affect the entire plant, not just part of it.

2. In a green house environment, variegation will take on a mottled form of white specks over the green leaf

The reason I think you should watch it is that your pictures are showing a combination of both expressions of variegation, and should watch it incase it could be something else, but I'm pretty sure it's variegation.

A small percentage of seeds of some plants do transmit some viruses.
