How soon can rooted roses be shipped this spring without damage?

I have several nicely rooted queen Elizabeth roses that I'd love to trade for clippings of other non patented, old style roses, but I am not sure how warm it needs to be for a small rooted rose to survive in the mail... does anyone else have any recommendations?

Warm enough that it shouldn't freeze in the truck. Extreme heat is a bigger concern, though.

Given that express mail takes about 3 days, it is possible to check weather forecasts, and pick a time that looks good.

Unless you are shipping south and/or west I'd wait a bit. It's still pretty cold out there. I'd wait until maybe mid-March at the earliest.
