Zephrine Drouhin is thornless. I have one - it tolerates shade. Bright raspberry pink blossoms and heady fragrance. Google it and you might find in your area - not sure of your zone...

I'm no expert, but I think "hardy" refers to the rose's ability to tolerate colder temperatures not the quality of the soil. Someone with more experience will correct me I'm sure. I'm not too far from you. There are a wide variety of roses to grow in this zone. For me, Zephrine Drouhin loses a lot of leaves to blackspot, but I don't spray. But she is gorgeous and thornless. She also doesn't rebloom too much for me yet. This may not be important. Some others to consider:

Crepuscule
Parade (thorny)

I'm not sure how these will do with less sunlight though.

Might I suggest Illusion, a red climber which is very disease resistant, nice fragrance but unforunately it does have thorns.
