Try looking at information for the Anisodontea 'Tara's Pink' which is a selected from by Andy Baldwin at San Marcos Growers in Santa Barbara,(www.smgrowers.com). It is also a rather confused plant group here in California, but their web site might help you pin this one down. You might also try looking at the web sites for Suncrest Nurseries in Watsonville and Monterey Bay Wholesale Nursery, both of which also have information on-line on their various Anisodontea offerings. Several other more unusual species are also being offered by Annie's Annuals here in Richmond, you can see her offerings at www.anniesannuals.com.

The various Anisodonteas have gone in and out of popularity here in California over the last ten years, but are all exceptional for amazingly prolonged bloom season and ease of growth in dry summer climates. The only negative aspect is their lack of freeze tolerance to our occasional deep freezes here, they mostly bite the dust at 25F. I remember seeing a more low growing herbaceous species in the Little Karoo Desert area of the Western Cape, which I would love to be able to grow here in California, but it had no mature seed in mid spring when I saw it. The flowers were easily the size of Oenothera berlandierii, and on a similar sized plant.

I think Bahia's suggestion of Anisodontea 'Tara's Pink' may be the one, Tony. It looks very much like what grows here at the Tijuana Estuary (preserved land). I'll try to make a jaunt over there to find out which one it is.
