When in doubt, always ask for a cutting. It does look like a S. mexicanna. Maybe the Lolly jackson. The leaves are too fat and heart shaped , I think, to be a S guarantica" black and blue". Maybe the plant is in an odd micro climate. Maybe because this one is higher on the hill, it stays warmer in winter because cold air sinks. I am warmer than my neighbors because I am high on a ridge of hills. Ask for that cutting JUST CAUSE IT IS BLOOMING NONE STOP.

I think it may be Salvia concolor (S. cyanea). The aspect ratios for the tube length, lower lip, and hood are closer to concolor than mexicana.

Thanks, as always! Those leaves remind me so much more of my S. dorisiana's than either of my S. mexicana's. There appear to be so many variables, including high filtered shade, pure clay soil and whatever that carrot top weed has to offer to the mix. I think I'll leave a note in their mailbox tomorrow morning!

Could it be S. Byron Flint (mexicana X hispanica)? Hard to say without a closer photo of the calyx. But the leaf shape looks about right.
