Over how much time? How much fertilizer? How much sun? Get the idea? No Sans gets as big as it could in natural habitat, or if given free root run so it can colonize. When a Sans is potted, to a large degree it is "bonsaied" especially in a closed pot such as you have shown in your picture. I expect your plant will grow "slowly".

I almost always fertize when I water using a weak solution of Miracle Grow in aged water. The plant sits on a wall under an avocado tree that provides enough deep shade so that the plant gets perhaps only 2-3 hours of direct sun a day - it varies during the season because of the sun angle - not because the tree sheds its leaves. Heck its always sheding leaves yet stays full of them. The kirkii leaves are quite leathery and dry to the touch. Is this normal?

Almost all my Sans are recent acquisitions, but an older parva and a gracilis hyb are in pots and are always sending out sotons and new growth and a couple of the trifasciata are showing signs of sending up new sprouts. So at least for these species, putting them in pots doesn't seem to limit their growth. However, I expect you are correct about potting limiting the "size" of the plant leaves.

My plant is quite a bit bigger, and grew a pup shortly after I bought it. But since then, not much growth at ALL. I really have to find the Magic Bullet these plants need. I am talking stalled for a year now.

And I have the 'orange spots' and the dry edges. So I figure that is endemic to this plant.

While I don't think mine is the 'copper' one, I do find this one pretty slow growing. Mine gets a lot of light, water maybe every other week & only rarely fertizer. Seems fine, but slow. Mighty pretty tho' (both your pic & my plant).

A lovely plant. Mine is VERY slow growing, it only has 2 leaves right now. It's so pretty though.

I find the usual S. kirkii variety pulchra is much faster growing than this special form with more leaf coloration
and much thicker, stiffer stout leaves. I've seen this
called many different names, including 'Copper Form',
'Coppertone', and a few others. I suspect they're all this
same plant. Don't know what the ultimate size is. It does
slowly reproduce true from leaf cuttings.

I reported that my kirkii pulcra copper form showed two new pups on the Topica Sans List yesterday. Its a shame, but if this plant grows too fast, I'm going to have to break the pot to get it out. I hate that. I started a ceramics class in hopes of finding a way to reduce the cost of pots, but clearly the ceramics learning curve is going to be long and steep. And nice pots made in China are pretty reasonable.
