The little balls separate into sections, kind of like an orange. Each section has several seeds. To me, they look like fly wings. Or kind of like miniature Maple tree wingseeds. If the balls were already broken in half when you collected them, some of the seeds were probably already dispersed. But if there are some sections still intact, you will find plenty more.
