Malva is similar to Hollyhocks, but much smaller seeds.
Scabiosa will form little seeds which surround the area where the flower was...they will look like the "birdies" from a badmitton game. They will be very easy to collect if they are ready.

okay I'm a little slow.

Afer the scabiosa bloom dies I'm left with the flower head full of little spikey hair things. Are the seeds inside this head ? Does the head have to turn brown or split open or what ? I collected a couple dozen and can't make out the seed or if it's ready to harvest.

Kathy, webcat is right, they DO look like birdies from a badminton game!!! Don't pull them off the head, though, until they are brown and come off easily in your hand when you pull on them.
