First collection attempt ever...primula

Hello everyone.

I'm new to GardenWeb and I spent the past 3 days reading up on previous postings and faq's and I'm totally excited to start saving seeds! So today I went and got some paper lunch sacs and headed out into my garden to collect some primrose seedheads that have turned papery and brown since the blooms faded last month.

When I opened one of the pods up to collect the seeds, they were not dark coloured, they were green. Is this normal? Did I open them too soon? Sorry, this may be one of those basic things everyone knows but I'm just trying to figure it out. I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks, Laura.
