It sounds like you may have picked them too soon. Primrose pods crumple apart very easily when the seeds are ripe. Were they like that?

Hi Remy, thanks for responding! No actually, I had to pull it open to get to the seeds. So does that mean I should have left it on the plant longer, or will they ripen sitting in a paper bag? Laura

So I sat back down with my bag of primula seedheads and a sheet of white paper, determined to learn something and had an aha moment. The "green" couple of "seeds" I'd tentatively opened were, in fact, underripe pods with no seeds in them. It took seeing a fully ripened one to understand the difference. (Feeling a little sheepish now, lol) But at least I now have my very first batch of seeds! Yeah! Oh yeah, I can feel the addiction starting...

Sorry I've been away from the forum! I'm glad to see you figured it out : ) You shouldn't feel sheepish. I did all kind of stupid stuff when I was first collecting seeds. Even now some plants baffle me, lol.
