Cuttings are pretty easy, just take a 15cm shoot and make sure it has leaf nodes and pop it in a pot with potting mix.If the humidity is high it should shoot within a few days to a week. The leaves will perk up which is a good sign that it has rooted.

Most salvias cuttings are the same, except for the basal leaved ones which are propageted by division or seed.

I rooted some cuttings in soil. Not all of them rooted, though. The stems are hollow and they are capable of soaking up water without growing roots - so I found I had to let the soil dry out a bit to encourage root growth. I found this out the hard way - I kept the soil very moist and all the cuttings looked very happy, but they never grew any roots! I actually tried rooting some in water, but those never grew any roots at all, because they could get all the water they wanted through the hollow stems.
