If Pink Chablis is anything like Huskers red, I would say yes definatly. Huskers blooms early and has held it's seed all summer and fall now. I have collected after first hard frost and still had to break open each pod! Seed To my mind, it is usually best to let seeds ripen and dry on the stalk. Although there is always the exception to the rule...

I have had many seeds dry off the stalk and have been great growers! So yes they should be fine. I had to do it with my castor beans and it was fine.

About breaking open the Penstemon seed pod: any advice about how to do it? TIA

The seed pods finally turned brown. I stripped the leaves off, put them in a plastic grocery bag and rolled over the bag with a rolling pin. Seemed to work just fine and have lots of brown seeds. Still don't know if they're viable or not though.
