yes, all the dirt gets mixed up inside the box, individual squares are not partitioned off from each other.

can i ask what you're planting that you're worried about a big root system?

I just figured that one set of roots from one crop would grow into the other...does that make sense? As for planting i am doing beets, broccoli, brussels sprouts, carrots, onion, and flowers ... is that ok?
and this morning - got up so excited went to get the lawn mower attached the cart and low and behold - dead battery, and a flat tire..............i must be crazy! Cause husband can't do much of anything with his heart the shed is down by the woods, don't know how i am gonna charge the battery - i think tire fix it will fix my tire - me o my - but like i said if the Lords willin and the creeks don't rise - im gonna get er done! Mower batteries don't weigh much, and charge better off the mower anyway (not that I do it, but taking it off the mower *is* the recommended practice). A screwdriver and a wheelbarrow or wagon should be all you need to get hte battery to the charger. A mower can also be jump started to get it going and up to where the battery could be charged without taking it out of the mower.
