Ok folks, got the number: (865)482-2908. His name is Robin Williams (really) and he is a very nice guy. Apparently my friend found him on the Bamboo Society webpage; I couldn't get the list but it may be available online. Clumps were cheaper than I remembered; my friend paid $5 a clump about 4 years ago. THEY ARE NOT POTTED. You will have to dig them up yourself:) In reference to the black bamboo, my friend says that it is not of "exceptional quality". It is more of a mottled brown, though there is a possiblilty that it is not receiving enough direct sunlight in his yard. But for $5, does it matter that much?
