Beth,I love those flowers! What are they and would they do well in Zone 5a? hee hee

Sassy what a beautiful precious grand baby you have there.I could just gobble her up : ))

    Sandlapper,Gorgeous plants.I want one of each : ))

Remy,Nice Truck! I love it.Looks quite a bit bigger and prettier than my old rusted out Mazda.Gets me to the garden center and back tho so I guess thats all that counts.But...I still like yours better : ))

Susie,Your beds are looking great.I love that heart trellis.Amazing what you can find sometimes. What a nice addition!

I am hoping to be back tomorrow to post pics of my tulips in bloom..Thats IF the freezing temps we are expecting tonight don't kill them all : (

Remy, I definately like your truck. Mine is a red S-10 extended cab and it is such a fun toy.
Nancy the plant is a pulmonaria and I think they are OK for zone 4. We had some in Kodiak but our zones there were a bit crazy because of the ocean.
Sassy, the baby is such a sweetie!
Isn't moveing a bear? I have been saying the best part of my move to the new house was the roto rooter man so that just puts all of it into perspective. LOL

Beth we must do a trade some day love to have what ever you have pictured are they forget-me-nots ???

    susie

    I have snow.

    Jeanne,
The Azalea is beautiful. They don't grow well here. The soil is too alkaline. Even with a lot of pampering, they never look that good.

    Theresa,
Lol, Mother's Day weekend she will get broke in when I make my annual compost and mulch trip : )

    Nancy,
My old ugly brown truck was sad looking, but it did it's job so you really can't knock the Mazda: ) But I'm happy I was able to upgrade for once in my life, lol.

    Beth,
How cool that you have the same kind of truck! I love that shot of the pulmonaria! Mine are a long way off from blooming yet.

    Nancy,
You can grow them! I don't know why more people aren't familiar with them. I think it might be because they don't look too good in pots at the nurseries. But once in a shady spot in the garden, they come alive.

    Susie,
I sent you a piece of one of my pulmonarias last year, 'Mrs. Moon' I think.

    Tina,
Snow is heading here. I'm sorry to hear it is a heavier amount for you: (

    Maryanne,
Lucky you. I think everyone, but Tina(sorry Tina.) is farther along spring wise than me!
The baby has grown so much. She looks adorable with those beautiful big eyes!

    Remy

    Hi again girls:)

Well I've had no internet, again, since my last post. Long story short, Julie, hubby & baby moved in here with us, Friday they found a nice apartment 1 street over and then I had to get my internet switched from my bedroom to my 'computer room'. Never knew they wouldn't let you have more than one dsl connection. Oh well..... Its done now.

Remy, thanks so much dear! I'm loving my new house so much and I've come along way this week unpacking, still have to unload my explorer! lol

Jeanne, yes the azaleas & dogwoods have bloomed beautifully here too, wish I had gotten pics. I love pansies, they're one of my favs!

A big thanks to everyone about the baby pics, believe me I'm giving her lots of hugs & kisses from all of you! She is the best baby, if she cries you really know something is wrong. She's a very peaceful happy baby. Julie's very lucky.

Beth, yes you're right, I hope I never move again in my life! This experience has been even worse than I dreaded:(
Thank goodness I'm about settled in now.

Amy you tell Garrett I'll give her lots of hugs for you both, lol, thats so cute. (My step-son is Garrett also)

Maryanne, beautiful blooms! Sorry I missed getting pics of mine, they're long gone now. I did get a pic of one of my tulips today, missed the others too. I'll have to check back and get the name.....

Remy said it well Maryanne, she's grown so much and is just adorable with those beautiful eyes! Hug her for me!

Well girls, this grandma is tired.....time for my bed. Goodnite everyone.

Nice pictures all! I thought I would share a few of mine too.

    Hey..Carol..where you moving to?

Here was one of my dwarf iris from earlier this year. They bloom way earlier than regular iris. I think this was taken mid February. They are certainly a welcome site around that time!!!

Susie-What a deal on your hearts...Way to go

Remy-Very nice truck....You can't beat a truck for hauling plants, dirt and all the fun stuff

Sandlapper-I like azaleas too...Those are beautiful

Earthly-Love your pictures expecially the last one...Next swap I want her...You can go ahead and ship her now if you want. LOL I was hoping to get your daylilies dug from your Christmas gift certificate from me but a cold spell has hit...brrrr down in the 30's again. Haven't forgotten though.

Beth-Love the pulmonaria, mine are blooming also.

    Spring in the South

    Shirley

WOW shirley, how neat and tidy and beautiful. is that a redbud tree? i love azaleas as well. my entire driveway side is line in them - purples, whites, pinks, reds...i need a yellow and an orange to be complete. i'll patiently wait for your stuff shirley. no problem. i owe some to others as well but they aren't ready on either end as well. in the last picture, what is the white showing in the center - is that a fountain? and how's that deck coming along?

Carolina Jessamine/ my wonderful son Sean took these for me and uploaded them....o.k. how do you make them smaller?
    Susan/Giverny

Susan-In photobucket just click edit above the picture and it will let you re-size them. Love those yellow Carolina Jessamine, just gorgeous.

Maryanne-The white thing in the middle is a magnolia bird feeder. Yes a red bud tree, I would like to have lots more of those. I also need the yellow and orange azaleas. I do have the wild orange ones and they are pretty.

Easter Weekend here but you would not guess that by looking outside

    My weeping cherry tree

about ready to burst into bloom.
    well maybe tomorrow?

Beth-We got a dusting of snow last night but nothing like that...Kids will never find the eggs under that...LOL
The tree is beautiful with all the snow clinging to it

    Shirley

oh beth that is just gorgeous and sad all at once. the weather reports kept saying we were getting it, but it bypassed us - THANK GOD! i do remember about 20 years ago we had snow on easter and then probably 20 years before that. crazy, crazy weather. do i detect a squirrel in that first picture?

    maryanne

Maryanne, It's not a squirrel. It's a horizontal St Francis. I had laid him down while I was pruning and spreading mulch so he would not get knocked over.
I remember snow in PA for Easter too but ( I hate to admit it...) it was the 40 years ago storm. I had two little kids then.
Today was not too bad after all. The snow was wet and heavy, broke some things a bit but did not get real cold. That may still happen tonight but by now I'm too tired to care. It will be OK whatever it does.

Earthly-I thought I posted pictures of my deck but maybe not. We finally got it finished. I had it looking so nice with all my flowers hanging and sitting around but then this cold front came through and back in the house they went.

shirley nice porch I'm hopping to be able to put on

LOVE the BLUEBERRY FROST I had some tulips pop up but not sure they are still out after this cold spell.
we didn't get the snow like Beth just flakes not much stayed on the ground .

well I hope you all have a very happy easter day I have to go get our pies made .
    susie

Happy Easter! Oh my, look at the snow at Beth's house? No snow here, but it is cold and I can see that some of the flowers were affected last night. I covered some things, but you just can't do it all.

    {{gwi:1256038}}

Beautiful pics, ladies. I'm enjoying every one of them. I'd have some to post were it not for the sudden freeze we had and continue to get. All of my bloomers stopped growing and are now wilting to protect themselves. Ah well. Maybe in a couple of weeks I'll have some photos to share. :)

    Hi All,
I love all the pics! The cold has kept the blooming in check here. We haven't got past the crocus, iris reticulata, and few early daffodils! Though it could be worse all the snow, on the blooming plants. I had lots of sprouts in my containers. I've been afraid to go back and look. Hopefully I have survivors.
    Beth,
It looks so pretty and so sad at the same time. It reminds me of October here when I lost my apple tree. I do hope not too much got damaged.

    Sassy,
I love the peony flowered tulips.
Wow everyone moved in with you. Well, it is nice that they found a place so close. You can see the baby a lot : )

    Shirley,
It is amazing how much farther ahead you are!! The red bud reminds me of one of the most beautiful mornings I ever saw(stop me if I told you this before, lol, you can't!) Gary woke me as the sun was rising near the Blue Ridge Mountains to drive. The red buds were in bloom and white flowered shrubs were too. It was something you just don't forget.
I hope your hostas recover quickly.

    Carol,
That is one heck of a pot ghetto! I'm glad you are able to take a lot of the garden for the move. The new owners would probably dig everything up or kill everything anyway.

    Susan,
Nice close ups. They weren't too too large. The flowers look so cheery.

    Nightnurse,
Great photos. I especially like that hellebore close up!

I'm enjoying everyone's spring blooms! Nothing blooming here yet as everything is still covered with several inches of snow.

I hope everyone had a nice Easter!

    Jenell

Good grief Carol, I had plants to move but not that many, plus I moved mine a few at a time last fall. I was luckly to be able to do that. I feel for ya girl, moving can just about get the best of you. Good luck!

Nitenurse....beautiful blooms! That dwarf Iris is awesome!
    Thanks for sharing!

    Susan love Carolina Jessamine girl!

Oh poor Beth, you just need to come on down to the beach!:)
Thats an awesome weeping cherry even with the snow.

Shirley love your deck, you're gonna really enjoy it! I know I enjoy mine so much at my house in NC. Its my favorite part of the house! lol Beautiful tulips, love the Blueberry Frost! I had one bunch left that hadn't bloomed but after the last 2 nights, they're mush now:(

Jeanne, you're right, its impossible to cover everything. I want our warm weather back! lol Hope we get some rain too!

Remy I love the peony flowered ones too. A friend here on GW sent me lots of spring blooming bulbs and I planted them so everytime I look out my kitchen window, there they are and of course I think of her. I do miss the baby being in the next room but I have to admit its nice to have my computer room set up like it should be, just seems I'm getting the house in order alot easier now and I still get to see her everyday and they needed they're own place, they love it. In a couple of weeks I'll be keeping her while Julie works.

Hi Jenell! Hope all you girls had a great Easter with family!

Great news, I got a full price offer on my house today, closing date may 30th, can get into moving mode now no more house tours, back into my jammies, not fun living with people coming into your house on a 10 min notice. The dog and I spent the day at a bike trail, then had lunch at arbys for the open house today. dh says no more potting up plants, I have enough to move, gonna have to dig a few lilies tho can't leave them all. hugs carol

Here are some things I picked from my garden this morning. I don't often do bouquets but as I watch them sit on my table, I don't know why not ...
    {{gwi:1256039}}

i just love the vase. beautiful arrangement theresa. other than hyacinth, daffs and a few tulips, not much is in bloom here although everything is starting to pop.

i spent several hours today trying to save things - pulling stuff out and replanting elsewhere..filling up gaps in the soil - everything in vain. by tomorrow, i'll need to build an ark - the rain is just outrageous!

    maryanne

lol, yeah elegant vase, huh? Right now it is so windy here. I dread looking outside in the morning. I'm afraid these blooms might be all that is left of my spring right now.
    Theresa

    Theresa,
I just love the flowers! I will not see roses, etc. for some time yet. I've got Glory of the Snows blooming right now! lol.
It is raining pretty good here, and just above freezing, but it is nothing like the east coast.
Oh and I use canning jars all the time for vases. When we give them out, if they don't come back it is no big deal.

    Carol,
    Congrats on the house!!
    Remy

thresea I one a few of each of those plants :)) I have the jar to put them in :)) so lovely . are they peonys ?
or peony poppies sometimes hard to tell.

it was very windy & cool here today but sunny & my tulips are sprouting . well keep up the spring pictures it realy gives us hope that better weather is coming .

    HAPPY GARDENING
    susie

i love mason jars as vases. when i give them away or dress them up for yard parties, i use either tulle or different colored tissue paper and then run ribbon around the neck. makes for a nice quick vase and people always want to take the table centerpieces home.

thank God the rain stopped, but woke up to snow, which didn't last long and if you look outside, there's no sign of it. the wind is a whole other story. i have tree branches everywhere. lots of clean up tomorrow.

theresa, i thought they were peonies as well...are they roses?

last year right after my peonies all bloomed, we had torrential rains and i lost all the blooms. this year, i'm going to put umbrellas up all over the place, and i don't care how goofy it looks. i want to enjoy my blooms.

    maryanne

The bottom right is a peony....Monsieur Jules Elie....I am very proud of it as it is not easy to grow peonies this far south. The other two are roses.
    Theresa

Wow, Theresa, it is unusual to be able to grow peonies in the south and you are much "souther" than I am. LOL It's a beauty! I just started to try to grow them in the last year and half and have 4 types. So far only Bowl of Beauty has bloomed for me but the others continue to grow so I have hopes once they settle in they will bloom also.
What variety are the roses? When I walked through the yard this morning I noticed that my Fourth of July rose bush is almost in full bloom. That usually happens in early to mid-May so this warm weather early in the year really has the plants confused.
Carol, congratulations on getting your house sold. I know you are so happy to have that out of the way.

Theresa,Simply Gorgeous Blooms. My fernleaf peonies should be blooming in time for Mothers Day.They are like clockwork for me but I will have to wait til memorial day for the rest of them to bloom in my zone.

Hey Maryanne,How many umbrellas do you figure you will need?We could all take up an umbrella collection for you.Bet your yard will look cute.Wonder what your neighbors would say?LOL

If I hadn't worked the night shift last two days I'd post my Spring pics. Thanks to all who have posted already. Everything inspires me to make a better garden.

    Hi All,
A few things are blooming nice along the south side of the house. Here's Falconette today. These were from Beth last fall.

    Here's Pink Charm.

This one surprised me today. One little ball of bloom in my shady spot out back.

Oh, after I already gave Gary to download the photos I went to see what was going on on the north side of the garage. There are snowdrops still blooming over there!

    Nancy,
Lol! An umbrella collection for Maryanne!

    Susie,
What a nice big clump of iris.
    Remy

Susie-Love your iris picture..that iris must really like where you planted it.

Remy-Love the daffodils, mine are long gone now.

Theresa-I have really gotten into peonies in the last couple of years. Can't wait until mine bloom this year.

shirley....i just love every time you post an iris picture. one of these days me and my shovel are coming your way! i'm hoping to visit an iris garden this year. just recently found out there is one about 2 hours away. been in contact with the owner who already shows just incredible customer service.

i don't have much blooming with the exception of tulips, daffs and hyacinth, and i have one bed full of hyacinths that just smell so intoxicating. this pretty little bloom doesn't smell to bad either and it's one of my favs!

Maryanne-I would trade all my irises for that cute little bloom..She gets cutier everytime I see her. How is your new job going? Let us know all about it. The iris garden 2 hours away is not bad. I hope to sell this year but the bad weather has really put them behind blooming.
