Is that "peggypollo" as in peggy "chicken"?

Anyhow, I noticed that you list 37415 as your area code. Welcome! My wife and I purchased a home in 37415 and think this is the best ZIP in the Chattanooga area to live in.
We're currently growing a number of perennials, roses and vegetables-onions, garlic, peppers, etc.
As for blooming, fast growing, I've noticed that Forsythia grows fairly quickly and it's spring bloom is quite beautiful.

Standard Nandina (aka "Heavenly Bamboo")grows like mad. It is evergreen, except for when the leaves turn a lovely red along the edges giving the garden great winter interest. Additionally, it produces red berries (reminds me of a holly in that regard) also providing winter interest. They grow about 8' tall with many canes arising from the root ball.

I liked them fine in my yard, but they require some pruning if you want them shorter than full height. And though gardening is wonderful, I don't prune if at all possible so I dug them up and gave them away.

But they are indeed the fastest growing shrub in Chattanooga, IMHO!

I also live in the 37415 area and I have about nine nandina bushes I am going to get rid of! You are more than welcome to have them. I would much rather have them to be useful to someone than to just throw them away. I have transplanted one to a large shaded flowerbed and it is doing great.
