Not unusual at all to see purple on the undersides and/or veins of transplants. The cool conditions that most transplants are grown under cause problems with uptake of phosphorus. But do go to the Problem Solver thread on the first page of this forum and look at pics of tomato spotted wilt virus if you have any doubts.

Also, you might want to go to your member page and enter your zone and state (or country, if you are outside of the US). Very useful info to provide when discussing gardening, and especially in regards to pest and disease issues :)

The reason Suze is asking you to share with folks roughly where you live is that many tomato diseases are found only in certain areas of the US and I wouldn't have a clue as to whether or not you mnight have the TSWV you asked about unless I knew you lived in an area where it is known to exist.

On the other hand if you have purple looking leaves and you put out your plants and you live in an area where the soil was cool and the weather cool as well, then I'd have a different answer to possibly explain why those leaves look purple and what I might do about it, or not do about it.

I have tomato plants with very purple veins and slight yellowing of leaves. Ive never experienced this before and I am extremely worried. Is it a possible mineral deficiency of some sort, bug infestation, or disease? Please help Im very upset about this although my plants still appear to be very much alive.

Both Suze and I are trying to help you but you haven't spoken to any of the suggestions that either Suze or I have shared with you. And without knowing where you garden it's impossible to speak with you about the TSWV you asked about.

So please:

Are these plants seedlings or have they been set outside already?

Where do you garden if these are already outside and what has the weather been like as to temperatures?

What is the temperature where the seedlings are if you're referring to inside seedlings?

Once we can determine if you're talking about inside or outside seedlings or plants perhaps we can make some progress here.

Without some answers from you in more detail it's impossible to try and help you make a diagnosis. ( smile)
