DH tends to transplant his Spiderwort whatever the season with great success. In fact, I'm hoping he moves some soon to give me more shade space. They may droop for awhile but IMHO should do fine. I have found that when cut back, they rally pretty quickly. He had a huge clump growing in full sun until we finished paving our driveway and sidewalk recently. Hope this is helpful and not misleading.

It's pretty hard to kill spiderwort (tradescantia). Just dig it up and water it well, and it should do great!

I've had some setting in a metal tub for over a year, it has a little bit of soil and it just blooms like crazy. I'm not sure, short of chopping it up, that you can kill it. Sure does make a great plant to put in places where nothing else will grow. I have it growing on the edge of our road right next to the drive the mail lady uses and it so pretty. I do mean within about 6" of where her tires run! I got some white last year, it's pretty , too.
