Finally found it. Colorado Potato Beetle Larva; now what's the best way to eradicate it?

Did you figure out what to do with these bugs? We just got back from vacation and some of our tomato plants have been devoured by this creature.

Tim--I'm near Cabot AR. Back in April Sue Nuffer at Armisted Farm north of Morrilton called to ask me if Potato beetles were attacking my tomato seedlings. I had a thousand tomatoes in the ground but no beetles. The Nuffers were getting eaten up. We haven't had potato beetles in 15 years. Two weeks ago I noticed them all over my potatoes and now they are out in the tomato field for the first time. I think this is an infestation that is all over Arkansas and probably other states as well.

I hand pick them and drop thim in a can of soapy water. They're usually big and fat--and colorful, so finding them is not too difficult. Still, it depends on how many plants you have. I have about 100. So hand picking does take an hour or two every morning until I've got most of them.

Don't forget to get the Mommy and Daddy beetles (see link)!!! It only takes a few to lay hundreds of eggs!
