No photos right now, maybe some of the folks there will post pictures on the Rose Forum.
Thank you, Krikit, for the kind words, we did work to get the mulch down,roses pruned and grass mowed (and with the rain we just had, it's going to grow and grow and grow.)
The purple rose on the fenceline is a once blooming rootstock with the inelegant name I.X.L. If you like the look of the bloom, there's a polyantha (repeats well) with almost identical blooms called International Herald Tribune.
Now, about Lilian...mine is five years old and for the first four years, she was low and sprawly and the thorns were no kinder. Late last fall she started putting on height and I expect her to grow even taller(which will be kinder to ankles on riding lawnmowers.)

Amazing, Ann. I truly regret that I was out of town and unable to attend your open rose gardens. Perhaps next year you will again offer the opportunity. Looking at the photo's proved glaringly that I remain a thoroughly Novice rose gardener.

Visited Ron at Appalachian Roses yesterday and came home with my first China, 'Pink Pet'; first rugosa's 'Magnifica'. Fell in love with his 'Buff Beauty' and magnificent display of 'Mme Cecil Brunner'. Have a few photo's and can possibly upload later.

BTW, interesting thread on Planting in lightly or unamended clay in the Antique Rose Forum and really enjoyed your always excellent input.
