"If "mite this is. I have never seen a pink mite before. Some pray on other mites and some reek havoc on grasshoppers.
Show the pictures on the insect forum at this site they have some real bug nuts there.
I think they are on the GW site you can find a whole lot of forums here just donÂt know exactly where to tell you to go sorry.

I am not sure but I don't believe spider mites would be on metal like that--the ones we are concerned with feed on plants. Take a look at brochures of mites--they have a picture of mites under their webbing--they are very very tiny. They also have a picture of reddish-colored beneficial mites--you would need a microscope or hand lens to see them clearly. Finally they have a picture of the damage they cause.
I would guess that your picture may be of some sort of spider but it is a good idea to post where they know insects. There are other insects that are found under webbing but they would be found on plants not metal--spiders are the only thing I can think of that build everywhere to "catch" prey. Hope you ID your insect. Farkee

Here is a clearer picture of beneficial mites.

What do your insects look like--can you see eight legs, what is their shape, etc. you just can't tell from the photo--only that they look very red. They also look big (compared to spider mites)--what size are they?.

'bad' mites can also have a reddish coloration at times--but I don't remember if it is the females and during which part of her life cycle.
