You beat me to the punch! I picked off and squashed our first one last night. Since the Canna's just started blooming I figured it was just a matter of days before we started seeing them. We were down in Chapel Hill yesterday and Tim has his Plum trees covered with 'em. Is there a worse scourge on gardeners than these bugs? I'll be filling up the sprayer tomorrow!

They haven't made it up here to Madison, yet, but I'm sure they will be here by this weekend. Bye bye, roses! See you in two months.

I've found them on my roses and porcelain berry vine, do you use the liquid sevin? I've been using the powder and was just told the liquid works better. I hope so before they take over. I'm in northeast AL just south of Chatt. on Sand Mountain.

This is a new pest for me. They are just getting to Madison County. I've not had them in past years, but I've found about 10 on my roses in the past week. I'm resigned to picking them off, if I can find them. The ones I have found have been down inside open blooms. Is this the place to look, or will I also find them on the leaves?

Catch them early in the morning or late in the evening because that's when they are lethargic and easy to kill.

Kathy, I use the liquid seven and it seems to be working well. Started treating two weeks ago with several of my plants and trees that were covered with them. I see one or two here and there now..that's it.
