Check with wherever they sell bubonic plague spores or poison ivy cuttings!

If you are serious, check with your local Co-Op store, but why would anyone purposely plant this awful stuff?

It looks good and it germinates quickly. And its a warm season grass.

I am having to plant today.

I've read about fescue, but it is a cool season grass and I was told now is not the time to plant that. Also when they say "cool season" grass does that mean I would be mowing my lawn every fall and winter? Don't want that.

And zoysia doesn't grow from seed. Would love zoyzia sod but would be too expensive. I'm seeding a 3000 square feet front lawn.

Anyone here plant zoysia from seed? I do have a few shady areas that I could plant zoysia seed, and even though I see zoysia seed in the stores I'm not sure why they sell it when I keep reading that seeding doesn't work!

You might be able to get some help on the Lawn Care Forum which I have pasted below for your convenience. I am very interested in the Zoysia grass as well. We do have a lot of shade in the back yard, but full sun in the front. Bermuda gets into everything and is much hard to pull out compared to fescue. I'm pretty sure that's what we have (well, what little of it there is) and we do not have to mow in the fall or early spring.

Fescue being "cool weather" grass means it stays green over the winter. Bermuda, turns brown. However, during the hot months, fescue will turn brown if you don't water it enough, whereas the Bermuda is thick and healthy during hot summer days.

Choose yer poison....

Imho unless you just plopped that 3000 sqft yard down from the north or another planet it will have bermuda roots all in it no matter how much you had to plow the yard. Leave it be and save your money!!
