I moved early this year and started a new organic garden from scratch (ie: planted in a field that hasn't been cultivated in many years, if ever). For the first time ever I ended up with blight on my tomatoes. I have pulled up all the plants and burned them. Also scraped up the mulch and threw it on the humanure compost pile that will not ever be used on edibles. Next year I will plant tomatoes in a different garden. But tell me how many years do I need to avoid planting tomatoes in the same spot? And can I reuse my wire tomato cages? Can I disinfect them? How far away from the original infected garden should I plant?
