As a newbie I just came from annbell garden and now have lots of plants to share and trade..I am bringing plants from her garden to share..I live not far from the river..
Is there anything that a newbie can do to help get things going on the 21st.. i am an ortho nurse at baptist and I understand compound fx very well. So anything I can do to help please let me know

Carolyn, thanks for the offer to help. Our biggest concern on the day of the swap is getting everyone registered and with a name tag as well as them unloading and then moving their vehicles as fast as possible to make room for more vehicles...those that have been here know that routine.

At lunch everyone helps get the potluck all ready and to cleanup afterwards...we do need some tables, everyone. Jeff has been bringing 5 from his church...so if anyone has access to folding tables we could use them for the food. LMK

Carolyn, you might email Jeff in a couple of days and let him know of your offer and expertise.

Jan -- I'll be bringing a couple of 4' folding tables with me, for the plants -- but if it turns out that you're short, I'll put the plants on the ground and you can use them. So consider them as backup!

Oh, and P.S. -- you may already have name tags, but if you don't I have a bunch. So don't buy any!

Amazin...we will need the tables at lunch, so maybe by then your plants will be mostly gone. Thanks for offering.

So sorry to hear about Jeff's accident!! Sounds terrible. I hope he knows that everyone will rally round and make the plant swap a success. I hope to be there for the first time and will probably come with Carolyn from Fairview if I am not in East TN taking care of my mother who has a broken hip. I have looked forward to this for so long. I will be happy to help in any way that I can. Jeff. if you get a chance to read these posts in the next week or so and want to make assignments so that we know ahead of time what to do when we get there that would be great, or maybe Jan is going to make assignments. Put me wherever you need me. I don't need a lot of plants to bring home so I don't need a lot of time to swap.

Two things I am thinking, first it would be nice if everyone could try and wear some orange for the swap. It would be a nice gesture and great background for a get well card. Also if anyone has Jeffs snail mail address I would be glad to send them some smoked ribs that LaVonne can just heat up for easy dinner. Just and idea lmk what you think. Rhonda

Morning everyone...got a quick note from Jeff...he is doing some better. He left a few messages for you all. I am going to cut and paste what he told me. Rhonda if you will email me, I will give you his address for those ribs. Here goes:

"I got to GW and saw all the nice stuff folks wrote. Please thank them for me and ask them to pray for us. As soon as I get an appetite back ribs sure sound good!!!
My leg is feeling better which only makes my tailbone, rib and elbow pain that much worse. I canÂt win for losing. We do feel very blessed that I didnÂt splatter my small amount of brains on the pavement or that IÂm not a quadriplegic. About 40-45% of my body is yellow, maroon, blue, purple and black. IÂm a freakin rainbow coalition all by myself.

We both really got a BIG kick out of the "everybody wear some orange" thing. Sounds cool to me! Tell Carolyn that I appreciate her offer on the Ortho help but we have all of that covered (one of our best friends is a nurse practioner and she can do surgery as well as write scripts). Pass along our thanks to MNature for the card, it was very much appreciated. Please thank Marianne so much for her offer."

So sorry to hear about your accident Jeff...I know what it is to have broke ribs (had them this summer from a jet ski accident). It takes a long time for them to heal...please be more careful ..LOL Glad it is not more serious and take care of yourself!!

Hey ya'll,

I talked to Jeff last night. What an ordeal he has been through! I want you to know - when our fearless leader fell off that roof, instead of giving in to the tremendous pain and fear, he dragged himself twenty feet to his cell phone to call 911 and then kept the EMTs entertained on the way to the hospital! Jeff, you are a fighter and survivor the likes of which I have never seen!

Ya'll, if Jeff is stubborn enough to come to the swap, it will only be to receive hugs and well wishes from his GW family. So, we need to pick up the reins on the swap and make him proud. Jan and I will be handling all the details, so please watch for our emails and GW posts in the coming days. We are going to try a few new things at this swap to ensure that the experience continues to be a good one even as we grow in numbers.

Do you realize that it is one week from this Sat? That means we don't have much time before all the fun begins. ah, poor Jeff!! I'm just glad it wasn't MORE serious, though I'm sure he is feeling pretty poorly at the moment.
