My elephant ears did the same thing a week or so ago when I forgot to water them for a day or two when it was quite hot. Mine are growing behind a small concrete retaining wall and I think the concrete gets very hot.

They grow so quickly so I just waited until the new leaf pushed out of the old burnt one and then cut it off.

Its the pot situation, coupled with the direct sun. Typically, even the ones I plant in the ground, burmed up to make a pool for watering, in full sun, will get some leaves brown out, these are quickly replaced by new ones,

My advise is to water,water,water - Feed well also.

Hello, I too grow Elephant Ears every summer. My pond area wouldn't look the same without them. This year I have the Giant EC's and they are outstanding. They too develope brown spots on the leaves and they are planted in ground and watered daily. We have had an extremely hot summer in Ontario and watering was crucial to saving these beauties. I think it's just natural for the leaves to do this as they are replaced rather quickly by another new leaf. Wayne

Another vote for they can't be over-watered! I have 2 HUGE pots of them that actually sit in whiskey barrels full of water!

I have a really small (hopefully not for long) one in a one gallon pot and I give it about half an inch of water daily. I think i should fertilize it though.
