Compost NOT steralized

I have discovered the problem of my caesalipnia seedlings dying(another thread). The surface of the compost which I used to pot them up into revealed a lot of very minute little pests which resembled baby wood lice. I checked the roots and found some had been nibbled.
This compost was fresh and SUPPOSEDLY steralized. It couldn't have been. I have had a lot of trouble here in the U.K. bad compost from reputably named sources mainly with oxalis weeds growing in the pots. I did complain but had no reply. Our local garden centre has stopped buying from one seller because of so many customer complaints.
I have repotted into a new compost(different make) I hope at least one may survive.
Hazel.
