I don't know a thing about peanuts but you know it is never too early to start planning next year's garden!!!

Dad used to grow them, and I know we had plenty of peanuts. That was a long time ago, so I don't remember many details.

Georgia is the largest peanut producer and our climate has become more like theirs in recent years.

I'll try peanuts this year no matter what and see how it goes. Thanks for the welcome. I love it here and hope to be here for a long time.

I was reading somewhere that the Bearden area was once known for producing peanuts in the Knoxville area some 75-100 years ago. For some reason I was under the impression that they do better in more sandy soils, ie eastern Carolina, southern Georgia. I don't see length of growing season being a problem, as they are also planted as far north as central Virginia.

They grew peanuts at the UT gardens year before last. I was one of the folks who pulled em up -- lots of cool peanuts on em!
