Penny, I grow this one, but have never tried to propagate it. Try soil layering and see if that works.

I agree with kayjones. On my harder vines to propagate I try layering.

Thank you Kay and sunny. That is one method that I haven't tried yet. I did take 4 cutting just prior to posting and have them in enclosed clear plastic containers right now. I have dipped them in rootone prior to inserting them in the moist soil. So far, these cuttings haven't withered and died but it has only been a week. So if these don't root I will definitely try Layering. I have a shady bed srounding my front porch that has an arbor where I usuall hang one of my hummer feeders and a couple of hanging baskets but nothing acutally growing up the arbor and I thought if I could get a couple more of the mantettias going, it would be a perfect place for them to grow.
