I have 3 different start dates I'm in N VA. Will be planting mostly in Self Watering Containers. Also have seeds winter sow for in ground planting once they sprout and are transplanted into the ground. Looking for Early Spring this year and prepared for the worse with a finally sowing mid March for my most favored tomatoes. Goose Creek, Wes, KBX, Indian Stripe, Ghost of Laos, Cherokee Green, NAR, Brandyboy, Brandywine Sudduth, Matina,Purple Passion, Aunt Ginneys Purple, Sungold, Black Cherry and TYW. Next week I'll be potting up the 1st group that were started 1/22 to 20 oz cups and placing them inside the Rubbermaid containers to finish hardening off. 2nd group started 2/08 will be potted up March 8th and 3rd group started 2/19 will be potted up 3/22.

I just started my 1st 2 varieties today! They are 2 that are slow starters. I've forced myself to wait till next weekend for all the others---last year I started too early & they got too big. Planting here is usually around the 3rd weekend in April.

I'll be starting my tomatoes next weekend. Peppers, califlower, broccoli, bok choi and romaine have been up for about a week now.

I started all my tomatoes and peppers for my hoop buildings today. I will plant them out around the 1st of April. They will go into black plastic raised beds with Medium Weight Row Cover over the top. If I need to, I will put another 6 mil plastic over the top of that. Last year, I didn't have to do that. They were fine until the first week in May. We had 2 nights of frost and a week of cold temps. They were fine, with some added heat (insurance policy)and many chewed finger nails.

I've only started the six going in Wall-O-Waters. Our last frost date is about April 15, but I've seen frost about a week later than that. I won't start mine main tomatoes for another week or so.

Started 9 varieties on Feb 18 and then another 6 varieties on the 20th. Here's the first 9 under one grow light:
