How much longer?

These BOP are going on their second year in the ground. How much longer do you think it could be until they are of blooming size? What can i do to make them bloom sooner? Our soil is sandy loam and they are in a western exposure.

Also, how much longer until this Kentia palm gets a trunk? Im not in a hurry, im just curious about this one.

The largest BOP looks to have enough mass to bloom later this year, the others probably a year or two longer.

My guess of the Kentia getting a trunk would be in the 10 years range.

Mine didn't flower until they were over 6 ft tall and I'm in the sub tropics. IMHO I think it will be a bit longer than this year. Good luck though!!

Central, I agree it'll take longer than a year before your BOP bloom. Are they planted directly in ground, or in pots?
When a Bird is planted in pot, it's stated, to bloom, Birds need at least 7-9 leaves, and potbound roots. Some articles say, Bird has to be at least 7 yrs of age.

Your Bougainvillea is gorgeous. So flower-packed. I also love blue Pansies. They're beautiful. Toni

My experience with BOPs in sunny California has been that they bloom with leaves as short as 2 feet tall. The more sun the better.
