I have two very mature (20 yrs+) Schefflera trees in my

yard. The one has two thick trunks growing in opposite

directions. I pruned it very hard down to about 3ft,

it was probably 10ft high, but didn't have much foliage.

Now it's starting to come back with lots of new leaves.

My question is, what care do I give it now?

How much water? Fertilizing?

The other tree only has one trunk and I also cut it

down to 3ft, altho' it was only about 5ft. It seems

to be coming back slower.

Should I mulch around the tree? On the bigger tree

you see the roots coming out of the ground.

They both get direct sunlight, lots of it and high

temp. too. It's also very dry and windy here (zone 10).
