Plant the okra to the side of the tomato that gets more sunshine, otherwise the tomatoes will outgrow and shade the okra...

"the tomatoes will outgrow and shade the okra... " Actually, it was the other way around for me... the okra became taller than I was when I planted it in front of thetomato. Maybe it was just my own pathetic tomato growing abilties as a newbie. Both turned out fine for me.

I forget how many varieties of Okra there are...Primavera is
correct..some okra can grow to 7 feet tall....my Clemson okra
grew to about 4 feet tall. If you have the space, put about 4 feet or more between the rows..and you should do fine.

I second the "plant on the sunny side of the tomato", because my tomatoes always grow bushier than my okra. I can plant okra really close together in bunches and they do fine, but I have given up on planting okra in between tomatoes. They never seem to get enough sun once the tomatoes get going.

In NE OK, the sun gets hot. Tomatoes won't produce flowers once the temp reaches above 85. Planting okra to block high sunlight/heat can prolong the fruiting of the tomatoes.
