Yes, it's worth growing. I'ts quite early and has very good taste, according to those who have grown it and that includes me.

But the name is NOT Azoychaka Russian, it's just Azoychka, and you can tell its popularity from the link I've given below to Tania's wonderful tomato data base based on the number of places that sell seed for it.

I planted a few seeds. Let's see what comes up.

Every year, I plant a couple yellow varieties, and while some have been good, I've never been truly impressed with one until Azoychka. Of the 20 varieties I planted last year, Azoychka was probably tied with Juanne Flamme for my best tasting variety. It is definitely worth planting.

Those who want more info on the variety eg mentioned will find it listed under Jaune Flamme ("jaune" referring to "yellow" and various golden- or orangy-yellow shades in French).

Thanks for the spelling correction. For those of us who don't know French, what is the correct pronunciation?

This one has been through the mill on spelling! It's correctly:Jaune Flammée, meaning yellow flamed, more loosely fiery yellow, something like that. Pronunciation: Zhone flah-may, accent on second syllable.

Although this thread is old, I'm growing. Azoychka. For the first time. I had terrible germination. One seedling after two weeks, then a few more popped up but too late for my short season. I'm excited to try it. My Jaune flamme also had low germination, only seedlings out of 10. P

One of my favs. Not growing this year as am trying out some other ones but greatly recommend and it is reliably good for me.

It's on my list for next year. If you get any going sharonie let us know how it goes. You are fairly close so I would be interested to see how you like it.

I'm growing Azoychka tomatoes for the first time this year too. I'm finding that they seem to require warmer germination temperatures than my other tomatoes (green zebra, mortgage lifter, Sungold). I was starting to worry that I might have a bad batch of seeds because I had very little germination occurring from them, but tons of it from the others. But when I gave them some more heat, they popped right up! And now I have a bunch of Azoychka seedlings! Can't wait to taste the tomatoes!

I wondered about that myself. I am sorry now that in spite of the time frame, I didn't take a chance and pot up the small seedlings, but they were so late emerging I didn't think they'd have a chance to catch up. The one I have is doing well, but it's definitely something I will consider for next year about warmth. Although my germination containers were in a very warm place. Who knows? Anna russian is giving people a hard time this year. We'll have to stay updated and see how it goes. I really am looking forward to trying this tomato. BTW, anyone here try Northern LIghts?

We liked it.......BUT......stopped growing after 3 years due to relatively low volume.

I just planted a very small transplant of this yesterday. Farmers market told me it was indeterminate, but I'm seeing online that it's determinate. Can anyone confirm its growing pattern?

tatianastomatobase lists it as a compact indeterminate. That's what I got - not short but not as tall as most indeterminates.

I like the flavor. It has not been bland for me.

I'm really annoyed with myself. I decided to resow some Kellogg's Breakfast last week, putting the pot on my heated bathroom floor, and 6 seeds germinated within 3 days. I had terrible germination with it this year, zero last year. Now I wonder why I didn't try to germinate more Azoychka! Oh well, I will just have to wait till next year. Lesson learned. Bummer!!!!

I have just ordered seeds for Azoychka and Kelloggs Breakfast from Sample Seeds Shop (plus few other).
I Like the comments that I read about them . So those will be my regular size yellow/orange tomato plants (2015) plus two on the cherry side size.

Hi seysonn, merry Christmas. Did you get hit with all the rain and flooding? Anyways, I grew Azoychka this past year. I personally did not have great success with it but I will attribute that to a weird year for me, as I had problems with disease on many plants. That said, it was very prolific but I didn't enjoy the taste. I don't think I will try it again for 2015.

In PNW we never (hardly) get heavy rain and flooding, storm, .. that sort of things. Our rainfall is gentle and often lasts for days at a time. Nothing like East/Northeast.

On the taste issue : I think there are variables and personal preference is one of them. I am not very picky and have never called a tomato "spitER ". With a bit of salt, vinegar/lemon, sugar , pepper I can enjoy any kind of tomato AS LOG AS it looks nice.

I grew Azoychka last year and will grow it again. I have finally found a yellow tomato that grows well, yields well, and has a very good taste.

thanks for the feedback. I look forward to growing Azoychka coming season. I will come back to this thread when I have planted out in late April. My seeds yet to arrive and it will be like end of FEB to germinate.

Yellow orange tomatoes:

I have had Golden Jubilee , I think , about 8 or 9 years ago. Now this year I am going to grow Azoychka and Kellogg's Breakfast. As I can tell from the pictures they are similar in color, size and shape. How about the taste and productivity ? To answer that question I have to wait 150 days from now. That feels like eternity. I have not even started them yet,

Have you grown both of them ? What do you think ?

Seysonn, I grew both last year. I can say from my experience they are not similar. KB is larger and sweeter in taste than azoychka. Azoychka was more productive and earlier but I was not a fan. It could have been the year, but this year I'm growing KBX. My favorite tomato in the yellow/orange/gold category iis Aunt Gerties Gold. One of the best tasting tomatoes ever but not productive, late and disease prone, so it's off my list for now.

Now that have seeds of both, I'll plant one of each. I like the EARLINESS part of Azoychka. Maybe it will do ok in my garden.

I live right outside Big Bend National Park in west Texas. The summer temps here reach 100 degrees by the end of May and then hit over 120 until Sept. So, I've I've decided to search for tomatoes that I can start inside under a grow light early in late January and then plant in the ground after the last frost, which, this year seems to be happening well into March. One of them I chose was Azoychka. Has anyone that has grown tomatoes in a desert environment, had success with Azoychka? I also have seedlings grown from, Amana Orange, Green Giant, Cream Sausage (supposedly great in containers) and Black Krim. I hope my plan of starting seeds early indoors will mean success this year. The temperatures are just way to extreme in the summer and an unpredictable frost means winter can be a crap shoot even when winter temps for us are usually 60s and 70s.

Planted Azoychka for the first time this year (2015) in a high desert, cold winters, hot dry summers. Last frost date May first. By the end of June we had 107 degree temps for 2 weeks then dropped to about 95 for the rest of the summer. Flowering stopped during the heat, but as soon as it cooled, started flowering again. Shade cloth cover helped a lot! Had very good yields, double any other variety in the garden this year. Started from seed Feb first. First tomato was ripe the same day as my Early Girl hybrids, about 60 days. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful yellow color, few cracks or catfacing. Looks beautiful in salad combined with red tomatoes. This variety will be a keeper.

I am also growing it for the first time this year. I am glad I found it.
