cooking jak fruit seeds

A very kind friend recently brought me some fragrant crunchy orange jak fruit and irradiated mangosteens, they were superb. Normally I'd plant the jak seeds but thanks to another friends generosity, I have enough jak seedlings going. So for once I'm wanting to try to cook the seeds. Do you boil them first then roast, in a skillet or oven? Please let me know your favorite way to enjoy them.

The fridge still smells like fragrant jak fruit.

I tried roasting some last year in the oven just like I do with chestnuts. Didn't work out so well. They turned out to have the consistency of chalk.

just boil, how long? Any spices added afterwards or just eat like boiled peanuts?

We, Thai just boil them with a little bit of salt. How long? Just enough to make the seeds soft. It will not as crunchy as regular nut but kind of buttery with a gain of salt instead.

I boiled them, as well as durian seeds. They're good to eat when you're able to stick a toothpick through them. Boiled too long, and they get mushy, too little and your toothpick will break. Enjoy!

I'll give boiling a try today. Boiling durian seeds, I still am in the planting durian seeds stage but next time I have a frozen durian I'll try it for sure.

Hi sir i saw your comment in w discussion regarding marang fruit… were you able to grow the seeds? I know the discussion was dated 11 yrs ago but if you were able to grow them i was wondering if you have seeds or seedlings you can spare 😊 hope it wont be that pricey hehe 🤞🏼
