I have never seen any of the nurseries here in the Buffalo/Niagara area offer them. In some areas of Pennsylvania they are illegal to sell because they self sow so readily. I don't know if that is the case in NY or not. It may be easier to find someone who is willing to share seeds or seedlings.

Quite a few people have seeds to trade here on Garden web and I found a lot of people selling both plants and seeds on ebay.

I bought one last year at "Sara's Nursery" in Brockport.

It is supposed to be marginally hardy here in WNY, so I'm anxious to see how it does with this weird winter.

you can buy them from Forest Farm mail-order nursery. They have both the standard mimosa tree and the hardier 'eh wilson' mimosa which is supposed to be hardy to -15.

Someone sent me seeds a couple of months ago, but I will not be able to use them (they were "extras"). I can't remember if I kept them or not, but if you are interested in them, I will check to see if I still have them and send them to you. I believe my email is in my profile.
