Well how was it?

The seminar was great. The speakers were very knowlegeable and great about answering all questions folks had. They gave us a bag which contained a booklet full of information, 2 large peat pots, markers, sandpaper and 2 varieties of giant pumpkin seeds. Some of the info that was in the booklet can be found at http://bigpumpkins.com/. Everyone received a raffle ticket and there were numerous prizes given out throughout the day. My cousin's ticket was picked and he won a giant pumpkin seed that normally sells for $20, yes, 1 seed !!! They had seeds there for sale and the prices ranged from $2.50 to $20.00. They also gave out some other free seeds at the sale table. The owner of King Arthur's restaurant donated the space and refreshments, including his homemade cinnamon rolls...they were soooo yummy.
There were 2 other websites given to us...one for the Pumpkin Fest www.cnypumpkinfest.com and the other is a new one, might not be operating yet, www.allthingspumpkin.com.
I can't wait to get started growing my own monster pumpkin :)

For those in central N.Y. interested in growing giant pumpkins there will be a seminar in Milford Central School as part of the Earth Day festival Saturday May 6th. Randy Sundstrom (former first place winner in state) will speak at 11:00 and Amy Parr (first place Otsego Co.) will speak at 1:00. Those who attend will receive a potted pumpkin seed. The seminar is free.
I don't have the room to grow them but my girlfriend did. She really got a kick out of watching it get bigger and bigger.
