I too have already started planting bulbs and will continue to do so until I am done or until Thanksgiving (whichever comes first). I have even planted bulbs during a January or February thaw with no problems. As far as the lasagna bed goes (all my beds are made this way), I would suggest planting the bulbs under the layers so that they can form better roots. Take into account that the layers you have piled on will reduce by half, so you can gauge just how deep you really need to plant them...I hope that makes sense. For example: If you are planting daffodils....The pile on top of the soil is 8" high....That will reduce to about 4", so I will plant the bulb about 2" below the original soil line.
