Help with my bed arrangement (built in shelves on 1 side)

Hi, I am setting up my bedroom in a new house.

Going to do a minimalist/ modern-y concept. I would like to get some ideas about the bed area. There is a built in set of shelves on 1 side.

Do the shelves leave the bed unbalanced on the left? Should I do 1 bedside table or 2? I need the storage space, so I would like to do something with drawers as opposed to tables. I'm thinking to keep the height of the top of the tables in line with the top of the mattress.

HELP!

(please disregard the arrangement of things on the shelves and the bedding, not done yet)

    Okay, I get that. :) I definitely agree with you. I would want to face the view. Your place sounds great, I love windows. If you are wanting two nightstands, then that's fine, it is your place. :) I would just measure the available space, so that the one on the left is not pushed up too tight against where your shelves are. This way, you know the size you're after. :)

      Are the built in shelves easily removed? Can they be?
      I agree - it does weight the room down.
      I think you need two bedsides, with a bedroom and a bed that size.

      thanks for the fast response, I would like to leave the shelves up if possible, but I can rearrange them. I just don't want it to clutter the room.

      Is the bed able to be swapped around to make the head of the bed under the shelves and then only have one bed side?

      not without removing the bottom 4 or 5 shelves.

      Well are you able to use the shelves as a book shelf or something else.
      I just feel that all those picture frames are too much

      yes, i am just using the shelves to hold them during the unpacking. there will be much less on the shelves, just a few things. books and such.

      Hi, since you need storage.... I would also suggest a piece, something low and long, for under the shelving. I think then just one nightstand. Other pictures of the space may also help, if you're planning on rearranging anything. :) Good luck with your space. :)

      zazfuzzroc, so you suggest a long piece under the shelves. and then 1 nightstand on the right. that could work. any other picture angles that would help?

      Hi, you're welcome. :) As far as other angles/pictures, I was wondering if your bed could go on another wall. But......after seeing your "view", if that's what you're looking at from your bed.......I say leave it there. (I would love it too!) The view I have is my neighbors place. I think I much prefer yours. :) Thanks for the picture, very nice. :) And yes, I think a long low unit that spans the length of the shelves could work. I think that would balance that area and provide more storage for you. :) What are your thoughts? :)

      there other 2 walls are floor to ceiling glass windows, i would rather look out the windows than put the bed against them. i like the idea of a long unit under the shelves, but i also like the symmetry of matching nightstands/ tables. so i am not sure.

      yes. it is a little awkward and tight on the left. the other thing is the distance from the bottom of the floor to the top of the mattress is about 26", so i sort of need narrow and tall tables

      This is a little outside the box maybe, but I would split the shelves and put them on either side of the bed(not over, too risky!) with matching night chests under them. OR...depending on how your windows are arranged the shelves could go on either side of the windows...?

      i like that idea, i will have to see if i can think of a way to arrange that. the windows are glass walls so there are no sides. they run the length of the room, floor to ceiling.
