What a week!

from 10/22-10/29 I went from having 3-4 tropical fruits to 14. This haul was from visiting 2-nurseries located in S.CA; Exotica and Papaya Tree nurseries. Both had very nice people working there and a load of different tropicals

to choose from. I paid from $10-85 per, in sizes from 1-5gal, some were seedlings some grafted or air layered. Exotica was a very mellow, sprawling nursery with tons of full fruiting trees and cacti. If you are in a hurry, call ahead, otherwise enjoy ducking under trees, following paths, and petting the attack rabbit. Hardest part was obeying the "please dont pick the fruit" sign, thankfully they had a sample table. Papaya Tree's layout was a little more structured, big fruiting trees, wealth of information, in a backyard.

The fruit I was able to taste: white sapote (seedling and McDill), jelly palm, kei apple, longan (biew kiew), lemon guava, dragon fruit, passion fruit.

trees/shrubs I bought: babaco, bananas (super dwarf cav, dwarf Jamaican red, goldfinger), capulin cherry, cherry of the Rio Grande, pitomba, jaboticaba, longan (biew kiew), white sapote (vernon), black sapote, pepino dulce, strawberry guava (African), Surinam cherry (lolita), also Hawaiian banyan and Baobab tree for bonsai.

I also have just a few more on order, most of these will grow in my greenhouse 'til spring then I'll plant them out. Yikes, hope this next week will be less crazy, happy growing,

-Ethan
