Anyone seen for sale the plain ole Hicks' yew (taxus media 'Hicksii') in sizes larger than the teeny ones available through mail order? I'm working on the shade hedge between myself and my junk-loving neighbors, and think that if I have to look at their discarded Jetta for another fifteen years before the babies I've been working with grow to any size, I shall not be able to hold my aesthetic self together. I'm in central Virgina and will be happy to drive anywhere for about two gallon or more size. Thanks!

Try calling them. I see 24" available in Waynesboro.

Thanks for the suggestions--I am familiar with Waynesboro nurseries and believe they are strict about only selling wholesale, but it can't hurt to call 'em. The inventory at the nursery in Ashland looks huge--do you recommend them as a nursery in general? Definitely a place to check out. Thanks again.

Colesville is an excellent source for plants. It's been a couple of years since I was there last but everything I've seen there looked healthy and well grown. They're not exactly cheap at retail level but then you usually get what you pay for anyway.
