Cardboard is great as worm bedding. I use a mixture of cardboard, shredded newspaper, and old leaves. I had a new bin heat up once and I suspect it was the leaves.

One or two pound of worms should be enough to get started.

I did a quick search on youtube and found this video that might help in setting up your worm-bin.

There are more videos on there that show other bins and setups. I just posted the first one I came across.

If you go to the web-page. " www.youtube.com " Thats what you will have to type into the browser address window.
then it should take you to youtube's main page. from there you will get a search window you can type into on the top center of the page. From that point you just have to experiment with words. I typed in "worm bin" and that brings up some results you might want to check out.
I sent you the third result down from the top. Just click on the picture. and if you have an internet speed fast enough it should start playing right away. (if you are on a really slow speed internet connection Youtube might not work well at all!)

You can also try searching their websight for other terms, "vermicomposting" brings some results, So does searching for "worm composting"
