Free. My son harvested half an eggshells worth for me. I promptly killed those. Everybody kills their first worms so no use stocking right up until one knows how not to kill them. Then started again with more free worms, half an egg shells worth once again and did not kill them. These were gathered from my outdoor compost heap. Starting small helped me to learn. Later on I grabed a fist full of something rotting that had attracted a lot of worms from a neighbors compost heap. Someone else here gathers free worms from sidewalks rather than letting them die. I have given away half of my worms twice. The first person let them get too hot in a garage and killed them. The second person eventually let them go in their outdoor compost heap. I think they wanted them to populate the compost heap not to keep for too long indoors.

I think many people would not be satisfied with worms they mail order if they knew what a real pound of worms is supposed to look like. There are probably some very nice companies out there. I know where I would get mine from. Even better would be to get them at a farmers market. I would go with a company that lists the latin name. Although mine are mutts. For all I know I am actually raising baby snakes.

I was pretty satisfied when the two companies that posted on this non comercial forum and did nothing but promote their worm company from their first post to their last were banned. I suspect we have many worm sellers here who never mention their businesses. I owe them a lot for what they generously share. I bet we would be lucky to have you join us with your posts. No doubt you have a love of vermicomposting and sharing information on the good worms can do. Let's drink a sip o whiskey on it. ~~~ ummm can I have a glass without worm castings in it :-)
