i love Roselle, i mix it with pineapple juice and ginger and it turns purple. can also be mixed with rum.

Very cool! I've never tried it but it sounds great! I'd be interested in seeds too if you have any to share.

Congrats on the beautiful harvest JB, I love the tea too, I need to give it a try with the ginger and lemongrass mix. Trader Joe's sells the calyxes candied, they are pretty good.

Are any other varieties of Hibiscus good for making tea? I have two of the "maple leaf" types that produce calyxs that look very similar. So I'm curious if they can be used for tea. One of mine is Hibiscus acetosella, the other I'm not sure of the species name. It looks just like the Hibiscus acetosella in every respect, except the leaves are green instead of red. A google image search for Hibiscus sabdariffa shows a wide variety of plants. Some of them look like my plants, some don't. Can you post a picture of what your plant looks like? I'd like to see what the real kind looks like.

only Hibiscus sabdiriffa, theres a white variant as well. there are hibiscus that look similar, one is even dubbed false Roselle, but i never tried using them

Thanks mango_kush. I am pretty sure I have the "false Roselle". I'll have to try planting some sabdiriffa seeds next year. Sounds like a great plant to put in the "holes" left when my cool weather edible greens give up in the heat.
