msrpaul..I use many different kinds of manufactured bins. I have a family of 5 and I do not think any of those bins could handle our discards, with just one bin. You could perhaps build a few bins, made out of some kind of plastic tote.

Chatterbox..I'll check em out....sqh1, I did see one that seems to be industrial size....but so far I haven't heard from anyone who has had success with one. Most people seem to make them themselves.....sounds good,but I'm not ready to go there yet...(unless someone has a great plan with an item list!)

msrpaul..Can you have a bin outside on the ground? If so, I have a great bin that works for me!

I was going to put it either in a single car garage or in a garage hwllway. HOA might get skitty abut something outdoors.....although, If you have some photos or measurements, I might be able to hide something....

THERE are two condo types available that you can add bins on top of another..One is round and one is Square..They are good but the one I have is SQUARE, cheap Plastic so I had to secure the walls better with two strips of wood and stainless steel screws...
That takes the weight better and hold much better....

msrapaul..Check this bin out. It is 4' X 4'. It could be made smaller. It is just dry stacked, on hardware cloth, in contact with the ground. It could be painted, or planted all around, to disguise it from HOA. It works great all year round for my family of 5. If you did the plastic bins, it would work if you had a few bins going at once. I have also seen bins made into garden benches.

Go to composters.com in order to look at a varied selection of commercial models. Even if you don't see something you want, you may get enough good ideas to make your own setup.

My setup is 4x32gallon flowthrough plastic garbage cans supported on hardware mesh & cinderblocks - outside.

I have a great one that works for me. It is called a 55 gal drum. plastic is best but the metal ones have a lid that you can take on and off. Set it up on blocks and put something under it to catch drainage fluids from hole drilled into side. use newspapers, cardboard, mulch, sawdust, peat moss, to make the first couple of feet of bedding. You can add newspapers weekly as the population grows. wrap it with insulation for low temp. It works great! There is even a hole to place a water faucet on the bottom to open and drain it.
