tammysf......I would think you could find one in S. Cal somewhere.....no? Unless you want some budwood to graft for yourself....let me know, if so.....although this time of year the budwood would likely be pushing blossoms.....you might be better off waiting until the bloom cycle is over and I could send you some.

I was thinking about the Edward also but it is a full growing tree. I don't think it would be practical for me. I did get my Julie and my Lancetilla. They are HUGE!!! I couldn't believe it. I could barely lift the box. I went to find larger pots today at Walmart but no luck, they were either to big or to small. I don't know what the spray is they use, it isn't fungicide but what a pain in the a** to clean off!! I put it in the shower and started rubbing it off but it is not easy to come off. Overall I am very happy. I will post pics tonight.

Andrew. Can't wait to see pics. Did you get from top? My lancetilla from them was almost 5 ft tall and bushy. I chopped it down to about 3 ft though to keep smaller.

I really want an edward. Now cuz only heard great things.

I have an Edward. The fruit ROCKS; it is truly superb, and is my favorite mango, and I have tried many varieties.

Hello. I did purchase both from Top. The Julie is HUGE!! I think I counted 14 branches. My lancetilla is about the same size as yours but it is only one main branch. I am going to chop it after a few weeks. I want to get it to branch. I will post pics of them after Ipot them.

I would not do the graft on the Ice Cream. It will be overcome by the larger growing Edward. Carrie would stand up much better and hold its own.

When the time comes, you can send me the measurements of the branch you want to graft onto, or even post a picture showing it, and I can send appropriate sized scions.

When do you think u will have some ripe edwards. I really want to try them. I actually want to try a variety of mangos.

My mom will be so surprised. We are obsessed with them. She buys them boxes at a time.

Tammysf: I have one tree that is beginning to set fruit now. This is way early for Edward at my house, but I have had other people tell me that they have had Edward fruiting this early before. A lot will depend on how wet and cold our winter is. As far as fruit maturing, it would certainly not be before March and could be as late as April-May. It looks like the crop may spread out as each of my trees (I have 4 all together) seems to be on its own schedule. One is clearly way ahead of the others. I posted pictures of it in the posting for First Mango Blooms of the 2009-2010 season. The others will proabaly come into some synchronization as the season progresses.

Well I finally gave in and ordered one after all this positive talk. I went with Top Trop after seeing Andrew's plants. They were actually a pretty decent price. $40 for the tree which is a bit high, but shipping was only $18 which is much less than other places I have ordered from so it actually came out cheaper.

Oohh. Can't wait to see pics. I can't order mine until january. Pine island is out of them until about april.

Let me know how it looks. On tops site the edwards mango looks different than other pics I've seen.

Its probably a good thing I can't order my edward until january/feb as I am about to order about 8 non tropical fruit trees: pluots, peaches, another cherimoya, persimmon, kiwis, blueberries, blackberry, raspberries.

Hmm, now you have me a bit concerned Tammy. I just looked a few different places and noticed the same thing. I hope I actually get an Edward.

Anyone know of any other online nurseries besides Top, PI, Jene's, and Nipa? I am thinking about buying another Edward somewhere else now that I am a little concerned about the one I just ordered but it seems like my normal sources don't have any. I won't be too disappointed if I end up with two edwards anyways.

I'm wondering how the new Edward/Kent derived variety "Tebow" compares to it's two parents? PI claims it tastes like an "Edward" but produces like a "Kent." Sounds like the best of both worlds to me, anyone have one thats producing yet? I'm debating on planting one of them next spring.

The tebow does sound great. Ask harry. He seems to have experience with most varieties but has also said his edward produces fine.

Sorry, no help here on Tebow. I just bought mine a couple of months ago from PIN. I just missed being able to taste one of theirs. They assure me that it is good and I have every reason to believe them. I will make it my business to try it next year even if it means driving down to PIN just for that.

Planted an Edward and Carrie 3 years ago. Edward has an upright growth habit with a nice landscape habit. Edwards Just fruited this year and holding about 10 fruit. Carrie when picked a bit early and ripened off the tree is the best tasting Mango I have ever had and they say Edward is even better. I should be able to taste my first Edwards in about a month. Edward they say is a shy, but reliable bearer and often named as everyones favorite. My Edward has more Mangoes on it, then my Carrie tree does this year. Both trees are still juveniles tho.

Dr. Crane knows Mango's and Edward is his favorite. Many others agree.

Guys, has anyone here tried both an Edwards and a Hawaiian Rapoza? I'd love to hear a comparison between the two. In this video, the Rapoza mango farmer mentions the Edwards. You guys should check the description between minutes 3:15 through 5:00 in this video.
