Here are my experiences with breads and grains...

Grains tend to heat up. Whether they heat up or not, they tend to become moldy, and become a hard, dry clump. After the mold has sucked as much out of the bread as it can, the mold will die, and leave a soft black blob that the worms seem to love.

I would let the corn bread dry out, grind it up, then sprinkle it over the bedding in small amounts.

Or just toss it into a corner of the bin, and let it get moldy.

I put small amounts of bread in my bin occasionally. I've only ever put 1 slice in at a time (or 1 tortilla). I cover it with other food and with bedding so that I don't have the problem sbryce describes. It does heat up, but I have a tray-type bin, so that hasn't been a problem.

I usually save up a weeks worth of bread crusts (dry,10), and break them up and mix with a weeks worth of kitchen scraps (blended up, 5-10 lbs). This helps control moisture, and makes the bread disappear VERY quickly.

I do not recommend blending up the crusts with the main scraps, as this mix will clog any strainer you may use to strain out the water used in the blender.

I am leery of overheating the bin so I stuffed the cornbread into the cardboard tube left over from toilet paper roll. Placed it on top of bedding and put some shredded paper over it. Also sprinkled some eggshell around it to prevent acidity.

I threw some bread in one time. (some homemade that didn't turn out right). I think it was whole wheat or rye. It was an entire loaf. It molded, looked disgusting for about a month and the worms didn't have anything to do with it.
Then, it just disappeared.

I always give bread a good soaking before I add it to the scrap bin, and yes it heats up, but the scrap bin usually sits around for a week or so before I feed it to worms so it's not a problem.
