Do you plan to leave it out in the winter, or move inside? If left outside, how cold are your winters? Worms do not like cold!

It will be just for the warmer months. Don't plan to keep it through the winter.

Your box will make a fine wormery. I would drill some 3/8" holes in the bottom, and then prime and paint with a couple coats of oilbase paint to make it last. If you don't paint, fiberglass or otherwise seal the box or it will rot out. After the paint cures, set it up an some bocks to allow air flow underneath. Place this in shade.
Prep the bed with lots of organic matter, such as cardboard, manure, leaves, kitchen scraps, compost ect. and leave it sit in he bin for a few weeks before the arrival of the new squirm. Worms love old horse manure.
