Hey everyone,
As some of you know this is my first year growing tomatoes. This year I just kind of winged it. . .went to a local nursery, told them what I wanted to do, mixed a bag of bumper crop in with my soil, and planted them.
Reading old posts, I found one about weather.com and the historical data they give. I took last month's and current month to date high and low temperature records and put them in excel, so now I have a chart of temps that I plan to keep updating.
Next year I want to try and be more scientific about it. Here's my scientific "wish list" so far:
Soil test to determine proper amendments
Sun mapping my yard to find the optimum spot
Charting plant growth of different varieties
Charting blossom/fruit dates
I'd love to hear all of your ideas about what kind of things are helpful to track in your tomato garden.
Thank you,
Christopher
